A well placed trap can stop that pesky bruiser from getting in your face and netting away or over a wall can definitely save your life. She can stay waaay on the outskirts of fights due to her range and has a surprising amount of self-peel. So how do you do consistent damage? Well, with Caitlyn it is actually pretty easy. The role of the adc is to be the consistent damage dealer and most fights will be lost without you. Farm is incredibly important but farming a wave does not take much time with Caitlyn's Q. It is a hard step for developing adc's to make, but the majority of the mid to late game should spent with your team. If not that is what your summoner spells are for. Whenever in danger, a quick E (the net) is usually enough to get you to safety. Trapping the bushes where the enemy support likes to throw hooks or whatnot is a life saver if your trinket is on cooldown. If things are not going as well as you would hope, Caitlyn can easily sit outside the range of enemy harrass and focus on farming. If done successfully, the enemy should not be able to keep up with CS, especially before the first back when they have no bonus AD. If all three traps are placed in a line, they can pretty much close of the river entrance to the lane. It can be helpful to place some traps in the river as well. Make sure to maintain vision (trinket wards should do it if your support can control the brushes) during this as heavy pressure usually calls the enemy jungler. Just put traps down outside their tower and auto attack whenever they step in front of the tower as Caitlyn's range is long enough to easily poke champs under their own tower. If all goes to plan, you can press the wave to the enemy tower by the second or third level and get one or both of the enemy champs down to below half health. Whenever you are not attacking minions, attack the enemy champions, and try to land Q's through minions and into the enemy laners. So, when first arriving to lane, Caitlyn should Q the wave and try to press under tower. Caitlyn excels as an early pusher due to her Q and the fact that it can damage the entire minion wave (not many adc's have an ability like this). Just your auto attack alone and the occasional Piltover Peacemaker (her Q) should be enough to keep most adc's running scared. Depending on the behaviour of the enemies, you may even be able to get a few auto attacks in as many players will immediately back away after being attacked (which is often not the right thing to do against Caitlyn). Do not miss a last hit to get the headshot on a champion but definitely try your hardest to hit a champion whenever your passive is up. This is especially true when the enemy adc is going in for a last hit, as they will not be able to trade back and especially especially true when your headshot is up. Every time that you can safely auto attack the enemy adc or support, you should be taking it. Utilizing this is of the upmost importance. She has consistently remained a top tier adc due to one simple fact, she has the longest ranged auto attack in the game.

Caitlyn's laning phase is absurdly strong.
