In 1981, Albertsons entered the states of Nebraska and South Dakota. Īlbertsons bought Fazio's Shopping Bag in 1978 from Fisher Foods, adding 46 stores in Southern California. In 1974, Albertsons bought the four-store Monte Mart chain in northern California. In 1973, Albertsons opened its first distribution center in Brea, California.
